Seiya Ichijo is a tall, blond man with red eyes. His hair is long and messy, reaching to his mid-back. He often wears plain black trousers and boots, along with a long purple cloak with a high collar. His sleeves are rolled up, and accompanied by finger-less gloves. He also wears a golden necklace with a green gem. Back in his time in the army, he had well groomed hair and was wearing army uniform

There is one bright spot in SwordGai, and that’s Seiya Ichijo. He’s a typical bishonen style character- strong and beautiful and somewhat rebellious, an anime archetype we’ve seen again and again. Yet he comes to life in episode seven, when the viewer actually sees the consequences of being a Chrysalis. Seiya had a girlfriend, Kei, when he was bonded to his weapon. Shoshidai has no cure for bonding, and must resort to placing Chrysalises in a cryogenic deep sleep to slow the process of becoming a Bosuma. As he remains in deep sleep, Kei ages. When he meets her in the present, the viewer is treated to a well-done fakeout where we think he’s going to see his mother, but instead it’s the woman he loves. And he does love her; in one of the best scenes of the first season, Seiya takes the time to paint Kei’s toenails for her, as she’s too old to do it herself. It’s a tender scene which shows the costs both characters have to endure to preserve the humanity Seiya is displaying.

With a father who's a singer, a mother who's a movie star, and an older brother Shougo who's the lead vocalist for the super-popular band "The Crusherz," Sena Izumi, an otaku college student, is the only dull one born into this super famous and talented family. He loves "Magical Girl LalaLulu" and is working hard to become a mangaka, but one day he winds up appearing in a TV commercial he just can't turn down. There, he's reunited with Ichijou Ryouma, the super-popular young actor he costarred with on a project ten years prior.

Sena Izumi was born into a showbiz family. His father Seiya is a singer, his mother Nagisa is an actress, and his older brother Shogo is the lead vocalist for the rock band Crusherz. Izumi however, is just a otaku in college. His dream is to become a manga artist, fueled by his love of “Magical Girl Lala Lulu”, but despite this he has no talent in drawing. His parents have another dream for him though, and keep trying to get him to go into showbiz. On one such occasion they force him into filming a wedding commercial, emulating the very same commercial that he appeared in 10 years ago. It’s there that an rising actor, Ichijou Ryouma, meets and falls in love with Izumi at first sight. The catch – he thinks that Izumi is a woman.
