What's Wrong with Secretary Kim: With Park Min-Young, Seo Jun Park, Lee Tae-Hwan, Kim Byeong-Ok. A romance between perfect but narcissistic second generation heir and his capable assistant.

I don’t want to split up their partnership, but I think there could be a lot of office friction and tension. I think MS is more than capable to be director of something, but I don’t want people to think she got the role because she’s the VP’s gf. She could be secretary in another big company, but I don’t like the idea of her being someone else’s secretary. Maybe she could go to college and then get an MBA, and then come back to the company as a big shot?

Me again…honestly I think they should use the ‘separate for a time’ trope. Mi So should go discover herself before committing to this relationship. Her identity has always been wrapped up in Young Joon. Who is she when she’s not his secretary? I would love to have seen her take the time off, go travel, pursue a hobby, try new things for herself. Don’t get me wrong, I do love them as a couple! They are super adorable and really seem meant for each other but I still think Mi So’s identity is a little subsumed by his. I’d love to see her go away, find herself and then come back, confident that she’s Young Joon’s equal.

You as much as I hate the ‘seperate for a time’ trope, this would have made perfect sense here! I also wanted her to find herself and not just be known as Secretary Kim.

I can kinda understand everyone’s points to a degree, but personally I think her decision was spot on and I was hoping she would decide for herself that she wanted to stay and that was where she belonged. I don’t like the idea or concept that being “just a secretary” is demeaning or not good enough, or some sort of degree or extra schooling is necessary or desirable, that unless you have an extra piece of paper or “degree” you are worth nothing, and that’s what your value is based on, I hate this stigma of society. Or that you can’t know what you want in life or “find yourself” unless you pursue higher education or travel or have a hobby etc. Those things are fine if that’s what you want to do, but saying you can’t have a fulfilling life or be respected without them is very narrow minded imo. I think she has beyond proven herself, her abilities, skills, value, worth to everyone that matters, but most importantly she has proved it to herself. I don’t see her job as menial or “not good enough” that she has to be in some higher position to be acceptable or happy. True satisfaction comes from not only liking or loving your job but moreso in doing it well, to the best of your ability, taking pride in your work, no matter how small, and you can tell she truly loves what she does, it gives her confidence, even when she thought it was just a job she was forced into 9 years ago, when it came down to it, it was always where she felt the most useful, empowered, and like she said, it was the challenges and solving problems that brought her the most joy & sense of accomplishment. She didn’t like it when Young Joon tried to take some of the workload or menial tasks away, because only then did she feel useless or dispensable. There is nothing wrong or insignificant about being a take charge, kick ass, efficient & dependable top notch secretary, I was one myself (or at least strived to be, and I loved it!) And now that she is totally valued, appreciated & recognized by Young Joon & all her fellow employees, and anyone that matters, not random gossiping peons, that’s really all she needs. And being able to do that with someone you truly love and not some jerk ass boss is just icing on the cake. So I don’t see the need at all for her to go search somewhere else for her “place” when she’s been in it all along. That’s what I loved about her realization the most, it WAS her decision.

I agree, there is nothing wrong with her wanting to be a secretary and finding meaning in her job. It’s just that she hasn’t been anything BUT a secretary and I feel that for the sake of her identity, she needs to find out more who SHE is outside of the office and on her own. To be a healthy, well rounded human we need interests and pursuits outside of our jobs and any partners. I don’t think it’s healthy to be so wrapped up in another person; each individual in a partnership shouldn’t lose their individuality! It’s not her ‘place’ I’m talking about, it’s who she IS when she ISN’T Young Joon’s secretary or girlfriend. That’s what I’d like to see.

With the mystery resolved and the couple together, this show goes in circles. Dad objecting is lame since he already told us he doesn’t actually object. Is Miso ever going to tell her family she was kidnapped as a kid with Young Joon and witnessed a suicide? I don’t mind Miso staying at her job because secretarying is all she knows how to do and she’s damn good at it, but perhaps she can work in another department. Lord knows Yoo Shik needs a new secretary. That mopfight was wild. How does that even happen in a company? Thanks, @ LollyPip, for the recap!

I’m not surprised that Miso decided to stay bevause at the end of the day, she IS secretary Kim and there’s nothing wrong with that. The issue was that she had nothing else beside that. She just realized that she had more to experience than being secretary Kim. She loves her job and she’s brilliant at it. Just like YJ she needed to step back to see clearer.
