Gai-Luron In 1962, Gotlib joined the children’s magazine , where he started adventure series like ‘Gilou et La Plume de Paon’ (1962), ‘Le Papoose’ (1962), ‘Puck et Poil’ (1962) and the gag comic ‘Klop’ (1963). His longest-running comic series in this magazine was ‘Nanar, Jujube & Piette’ (1962-1965), which he published under the pseudonym Garm. It centered around the jocular boy Nanar, his little girlfriend Piette, the malicious fox Jujube, farmer Laglume, poet Monsieur Joachim and Nanar’s uncles Basile and Blaise. Gradually, most of these characters were scrapped in favor of Jujube, who became more anthropomorphic in time.

Marcus Boas painted the poster and also handled the lettering. Distributor Larry Joachim had spotted his work at a convention and paid him $1,000 per poster. Legendary comic book artist Neal Adams painted the poster for and, surprisingly, he often handled posters for a seemingly random assortment of New York distributors. Not only did he paint Jackie Chan’s for Serafim Karalexis, but he also did several posters for Howard Mahler Films.
