what happened to casual nudity in anime? this definitely changed

Oh god, I forgot I still have to finish the re! But yeah, as someone who pretty firmly believes that anime dubs should have fun with thier localization process and even add some new personality to a work, I don’t jive well with the idea of treating source material like a sacred text. Japan was a lot more casual about nudity in the 70s and 80s, and now cultural has shifted to thinking that there might be some issues with showing naked s on TV. I don’t think there’s a morality to a change like that and, if anything, it s these res more reflective of the modern enviorment they were produced in, which is what a good re should do, imo.

In times when all sorts of fetishes are okay and kinks become weirder and more extreme every day, the idea of casual nudity becomes more and more arousing. While other fetishes are about doing things to get people horny, there’s this paradoxical idea of girls being hot doing very mundane things while in the nude. Compared to many Western shows, Japanese anime really does use a lot of PG-13 content to spice things up, usually with male viewers in mind. This may range from tasteful partial nudity or sexual scenes all the way to shallow, gratuitous fan service that exists for the sake of it. Fan service can be done right, but that doesn’t mean every anime tries it.
