Story: 9/10
You might be thinking "what the hell, gridiron and anime!?", Well, you’re in for a suprise. I started watching this anime thinking, "hehe this can’t be any good" and when the anime fnished, "OH GOD THE HORROR!"
SO! Is you don’t know the concept of the story, it’s about this wimp named sena who is found by people of the same school, Hiruma and Kurita, while running away from bullies, and these guys find that he has amazing speed and if he trains enough he can turn into this legendary gridiron player. SO! Sena trains and trains like your basic shonen anime gaining new powers every now and then and the way they present is frikkin’ epic
Animation: 9/10
The weirdest thing you notice when you start watching Eyeshield 21 is that Hiruma has really pointy ears and Kurita has a head shaped like a slime out of Dragon Quest. DON’T WORRY! You’ll most likely get used to it.
Most of the characters are your averagely animated people BUT I rated the animation 9 for the presentation of Sena’s (and his rivals/friends) special moves such as the Devil Bat Ghost. It’s really epic…really epic.
One other weird thing which I noticed is that EVERY TIME they get a touchdown, get tackled or catch the ball, the helmet always falls off, but I guess you can get used to that as well…
Sound: 10/10
ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! The character voices are all executed very nicely, but my favourite was Hiruma and his sly voice and his laugh and his "YA-HA!"
I liked the opening and endings but the ones I liked the most were all the ones near the end of the series.
The OST was AWESOME, I loved the music when sena does some tricky awesome thing but then again I guess that happens in most animes.
Characters: 9/10
The characters were pretty much your basic shonen anime characters, which is a good thing. Sena the guy that starts out pretty weak but gains powers constantly, Hiruma the guy that is 100% sure that he’ll never lose and always has a plan, then there are your comedy relief characters and more. (I don’t know how to do a character section review)
Overall: 9/10
DON’T THINK IT’LL BE BAD JUST ‘CAUSE IT’S ABOUT GRIDIRON/AMERICAN FOOTBALL!!! This is a great anime and I loved it, (except for the episodes which I presume are fillers here and there)
(sorry for the long review, first time reviewing, feedback please!!! Oh, yeah, and the series doesn’t end where the manga does so I have to buy around the last 7 volumes of the manga, THANKS!!!)
the first and so far best sports anime i have ever seen it have alot of characters but supposed to only have one main il say they all become one as the team and the sheild/family of eyeshield 21 you learn to love them and they are as much the anime as a main person sould ever be it also brings competision to the anime well it is a sport so ofc but still i like that really much competitions can turn any way you can think the main characters don need to win for the show to go on wich makes it a litle more fun to wait and see what happens overall its a damn good show
Eyeshield 21: Maboroshi no Golden Bowl
In short order, Sena was discovered to be a fast and agile runner, trained by a lifetime of running from (and running errands for) bullies. In addition to his team secretary duties, he was quickly recruited to be the team’s starting running back by the team’s captain: the demonic Youichi Hiruma. To keep him from becoming a recruitment target for every other club in the school, he was given a secret identity: Eyeshield 21, the mysterious hero from Notre Dame, who always plays wearing a helmet with a dark green eyeshield.
Kobayakawa Sena is a little guy who always get picked on by the bullies in school. Since elementary school, he always play the role of the 'errand boy' to the extent that he has become swift and fast in his movements. Coincidentally, Hiruma Youichi and Kurita Ryukan are looking for a fast running back for their American Football team (Amefuto) and want to put Sena in the team. To hide their new 'star' player from the eyes of other High Schools, Hiruma encases Sena in a Amefuto helmet with a dark visor and name him Eyeshield #21.Eyeshield 21 has one or more episodes streaming with subscription on Crunchyroll. It's a drama and sport show with 178 episodes over 3 seasons. Eyeshield 21 is still airing with no announced date for the next episode or season. It has a high IMDb audience rating of 7.7 (652 votes).

Then Sena breezes past Hiruma which gives Hiruma an idea. He shouts at the nearby boys to gather with Monta. Hiruma, Monta, Sena and Taki gather in a tight midfield huddle and then break out of the huddle in different directions, confusing the White Knights and Takami. Eyeshield 21 is shown with the ball while surpassing all opponents except Shin. The episode ends in freeze-frame showing Sena and Shin charging towards each other.
Natsuhiko was first introduced in the series when Sena met him in the San Antonio stadium (Natsuhiko was trying out for the team there). He has a habit of opening his jacket to bare his pecs, making weird poses like rising up his leg 180 degrees, often portrayed as a ladies-man, has a lot of devoted fangirls, has numerous rivals like Raimon Taro, allies like Hayato Akaba, Kengo Mizumachi and in between like Daikichi Komusubi and Ha-Ha Brothers. His dream is to become a pro football star, even though he didn’t know the rules, nor the positions, stating that he was an all-around super player. He couldn’t play American Football in Japan, he wasn’t qualified, so he went to America to apply for a position in the San Antonio Team by taking all the savings in his house to fly to America. He failed, however, the coach did praise him on his potential and asked him to try out again after gaining some experience in high school football. Sena passed the pro-tryouts as Eyeshield 21, (though he and the Taki siblings left before his name was announced). Sena, feeling sorry for him, sensed that Natsuhiko had potential and that his talent shouldn’t be wasted, asked him to join the Devil Bats back in Japan as a Tight End. He manages to qualify as a Devil Bats team member after undergoing the rest of the Death March.
