Anime pregnant comic

For years, Yehuda Devir has chronicled his life with his wife Maya in relatable couple comics. He recently shared their year-long journey to becoming pregnant.

Rendered in his distinct comic style, Yehuda chronicles the precious, everyday experiences of Maya being pregnant for the first time. From her body changes and food cravings to awkward sleeping positions and their baby’s first kick, anyone who has ever been pregnant can totally relate.

In 2001, 17-year-old Japanese artist Hayato Saito sketched an image of a pregnant superhero, inspired by his pregnant sister, Yuki Takahashi. At the time, Takahashi was on bed rest and confided to her younger brother that she was “bored, frustrated, and scared”. Saito presented the sketch to her on his next visit and began entertaining his sister with stories of a fierce warrior intent on protecting her husband and her unborn child. Over the next few months, the character and the primary storyline of the officially named “Most Fruitful Yuki” solidified. By the time Takahashi gave birth (to a healthy daughter named Hana), Saito had drawn up the whole comic and gave it as a baby gift.

“It hit me that I’d never read a comic that dealt with pregnancy and childbirth in any way that resembled the experience my wife and I had with either of our two kids. Characters had been pregnant before but it was usually in the stereotypical TV/movie fashion that skims through it. So the thought of digging into that here…seemed too good to pass up,” said Nick.

Dennis said he thought of the pregnant story line after him and his wife decided to have a family. They never intended to have kids when they first got married, but as the years went by they decided it was something they wanted to do, which then became something Jessica Drew was going to experience in the comics.
