The ‘Bad Batch’ of elite and experimental clones make their way through an ever-changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone Wars.

The critically acclaimed Star Wars animation spin-off of Clone Wars, The Bad Batch which had its Season 1 premiere last year on the streaming service Disney+, is now up for a season 2 release soon this Fall. At the Star Wars Celebration 2022, the panel released the official trailer for Season 2 that you can watch below.

The first season of Bad Batch is set after the prequels, briefly after the events of Clone Wars concluded. The first season also saw the return of fan favorite and long-lost clone called Captain Rex along with the presumed dead bounty hunter Cad Bane. The story follows Clone Force 99, consisting of 5 elite and experimental clones with enhanced abilities, taking up exceptionally risky mercenary missions, while they struggle to hold together as a team and find a new purpose.

Baker who attended the panel and plays the titular The Bad Batch said the following:

They were joined by actors Dee Bradley Baker, who voices all the “Bad Batch” characters, and Michelle Ang, the voice of Omega.

In addition to the Batch’s ongoing conflict with the rising Empire, one of the major sources of conflict has been Crosshair’s defection to the Empire. Both troopers spend the majority of the episode trying to convince the other to see his side. Hunter wants Crosshair to rejoin the Batch, while Crosshair is dead set on serving the Empire—even revealing late in the episode that he has had his inhibitor chip removed and thus is serving the Empire out of his own free will. This is the meatiest part of the episode, given weight by Baker’s dueling performances as Hunter and Crosshair and how it has shades of Darth Vader attempting to convince Luke Skywalker to join his side in

Villanueva’s direction keeps an even pace throughout the episode, ramping up for the action sequences and slowing down for the emotional ones. The highlight of the action sequences is a moment where Omega lets out a series of training droids, which leads to the Batch delivering a variation on the training exercise they went through in “

The last episode saw Rampart destroying Tipoca City under the orders of Tarkin and now fans are dying to know what the fate will be for The Bad Batch as they are trapped inside.
