Ahh…what a lovely way to end such a wonderful series. Many of you know that Oregairu is my favorite anime series, and though I've sometimes been critical of this season's progression (and that in the light novels), I still love what was transpiring, and particularly this final episode—I would say one of the best last…

Next day, back at the Service Club Room, Hachiman and Yukino along with Yoshiteru, Sagami’s Brother and Hatano work on processing the requests for the venue. Moments later, Iroha along with the Student Council Vice President and Secretary to help. Then Saika also enters the room and Hachiman asks for the entire tennis club to help in the preparation to which he agrees. Unexpectedly, Hayato, Kakeru, Yumiko, Hina and Saki also enters the room to assist with the preparation. As the meeting is about to begin, Yui also joins them to the relief of Hachiman and Yukino.

At the Service Club Room, Hachiman and Yukino are finishing up the paper work from the joint prom. Yukino invites Hachiman to come over for dinner tomorrow in her home at her mother’s request. Hachiman tries decline but Yukino nonchalantly tells him the schedule of everyone he knows effectively shooting down every excuse he can think of. Komachi then enters the room and asks to join the club. Yukino welcomes her and Hachiman tells her the club doesn’t exist anymore and are not recruiting members. Then Iroha also enters the room while catching her breath and presents them with an approved club application for the Service Club with Komachi as president and Hachiman and Yukino are members. Hachiman and Yukino are surprised by this and soon Yui also enters the room for a request. Yukino welcomes her and prepares tea. As the reformed Service Club prepares for its first request, Hachiman thought to himself “My Teen Romantic Comedy is Wrong, as I Expected.”

Still at the batting range, Hachiman and Shizuka continue their talk about the codependency that Haruno told him. Shizuka then gave him an example through a piece of napkin. After a couple more pieces of advice from Shizuka, Hachiman resolves to solve the relationship in his own manner.

At Inageritsu Bridge, Hachiman and Yukino walk together and discuss what transpired during the meeting including her surprise that her mother agreed with the joint prom. Yukino questions Hachiman’s actions and what happened to Yui’s wish. Hachiman responds that his actions are part of Yui’s wish and gives further explanation. He continues to argue that he and Yukino have poor communication skills and would not be able to get back together if they drifted apart. Hearing this, Yukino responds she is different and trying to improve her communication skills and tries to leave in a hurry. Hachiman tries to talk further as he catches up with her and hesitates for a moment. He then runs and grabs Yukino by her hand much to her surprise. Despite being embarrassed, Hachiman confesses he wants to be involved with Yukino. Although Yukino self-deprecates and dismisses her value as a partner for Hachiman, he insists that he likes her the way she is and likes her for all of her good and bad attributes. Yukino asks for his life as she clings to him while they hold hands, and she and Hachiman become a couple.

Season 1 covers the Volumes 1 – 6 of the Light Novels, while Episode 13 of the anime covers the Volume 6.5 (Short Volumes 6.25, 6.50, 6.75). An

As Yumiko and Hayato steadily gain lead, Yui sprains her ankle but gets Yukino as her replacement. Yukino dominates the game until her stamina runs low. She entrusts the game to Hachiman, who is able to win the match. Yukino leaves with Yui while Saika thanks Hachiman. As Hachiman returns to the club room, he walks in on Yui and Yukino changing and is knocked out with a tennis racquet.

Meanwhile, depressed with her inability to do anything meaningful for the festival, Minami locks herself in the bathroom.

Afterwards the Service Club starts preparing the magazine. As Hachiman prepares his article, he writes that since no amount of preparation can really prepare someone for the unforeseen future, he advises female readers to stake their claim on their desired husbands since everyone deserves the right to be happy.

In the epilogue, Isshiki goes after Hachiman and expresses her concern over the tense state of the Service Club, but he promises that they will figure something out.
