The show’s fourth season has yet to be officially announced, which could explain why the short quickly went viral. Fans might have been hoping for a surprise extra episode of the series, which is what they got last April 1—when Adult Swim quietly aired the show’s third-season premiere. What they got instead, this time, was an April Fool’s joke that poked fun at the show’s own audience.

Still, the show is immensely popular, and it makes perfect sense that those who watch it would seize on any update about its status—even one as irreverent as “Bushworld Adventures.” It might be a while before any actual new episodes enter the fold, though. In March, Harmon noted that he hasn’t started work on a new season because, well, a new season hasn’t been ordered by the network yet.

Post-Planetina, Rick and Morty have much to vent about

Episode 4 of Rick and Morty season 5 starts today (Sunday, July 11) at 11 p.m. ET. It’s titled “Rickdependence Spray.”

It’s time to watch Rick and Morty season 5 episode 4, and if it sounds a week late, we’re going to celebrate Rickdependence … Spray? If this means anything, we’re guessing it could bring Morty even further to trying to declare his independence from the frustrating situations that have pushed him further and further this whole season.

But, yes, we’re not sure what Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon are up to, and whether or not this episode was supposed to air last Sunday, but it looks like we’re about to get a very Shwifty dose of patriotism.

Rickdependence Spray comes in the aftermath of a very relationship-heavy edition of the series. Or about as lovey-dovey as a show can be when Morty murders a board room of exes, cronies and the Tina-teers. A congressman’s house was set on fire, too. Fun times. Meanwhile Rick and Summer went on a very weird road-trip.

Rick and Morty season 5 episode 4, aka “Rickdependence Spray” continues this season’s format of movie references in titles. We’re not sure who’s going to welcome to, or to which planet (if not Earth), but an alien invasion such as ID4’s almost seems like too easy of a concept for Rick and Morty. The entire show is chock-full of aliens.
