It’s not uncommon for the bottom to be fragile and feminine in yaoi manga. We got so used to this trope that the moment we lay eyes on a sparkly-eyed, soft-spoken character, we assume he’s the uke. As yaoi readers, there’s nothing more interesting than the moment we’re reading a story and we get to the sexy part: and there they are, both naked, kissing and panting… but suddenly, the one we thought was the uke starts penetrating the one who looks like the seme.

There’s also another couple in this manga, the one that takes us by surprise. Yosuke and Naoya work for the same company as our main couple and are also in a relationship. There’s nothing wrong with a bulky uke. Much to the contrary, it makes the story even more appealing. When the characters don’t follow the stereotype, it’s easier to make us readers want to know more about them, or how does sex work between a huge uke and a petite seme. Does it look weird? Will we like it, or will we find it strange? Of course, mangas that depict this type of couples answer every single one of these questions.

The uke in this manga is used to having sex and is very open about the things that he likes and enjoys. At first, Satoshi has a hard time dealing with Tatsuo’s personality, but he soon realizes that he can’t be with anyone else but him. The sex between these two is more than raunchy, and trust us, having a bulky man being the uke makes the difference. Of course, Tatsuo and Satoshi look really cute together even outside the bedroom. This uke has a ripped body, and we’re very grateful for that, so we’re sure Satoshi agrees.

It’s very important for us, the readers, to have an open mind when reading yaoi manga, not assign roles to the characters just based on their appearance. Again, looks can be deceiving, and maybe a slutty uke is hiding behind a macho image!

So my biggest selling point in any BL manga is if one of the love interest is a Yankee. I don’t know why but I just love a story with a rowdy boy love interest.
