Blissfully unspoilered One Piece noob takes the plunge and wades through the eight-hundred plus episodes of One Piece for the first time.
Episode 150 pretty much functioned to build up the conflict between Luffy and Bellamy to a ‘point of no return’. By beating up the good-natured Saruyama brothers and Montblanc Cricket, who is just living his life on Jaya, trying to find that damned gold, Bellamy crossed the Moral Event Horizon. While the Strawhats hung back to fix the Going Merry (another petty crime I wanted to punch the Douche Crew for myself), Luffy cracked his knuckles and ran along the Coast to Mock Town. I figured the next episode would be dedicated to a race against time, but the anime team were merciful and did not add one iota of unwanted filler. (Thank you, anime team!) Luffy arrived at Mock Town just before the end of episode 150, with enough time to build up a cliffhanger of such magnitude that I couldn’t stop myself powering through to 151.
After that, who was introduced but one of the few characters I knew of before jumping into the One Piece fandom: Donquixote Doflamingo! Now, I didn’t get to see much of him, but I must say I like what has been revealed so far. I’m assuming he has a Devil Fruit power, which enables him to control the movements of other people (that is such a rad power, honestly). He also enjoys using it on innocent guards for his own amusement. I could therefore add cruel to his list of character traits. Business on his island is apparently booming and he only came to the meeting because he was bored. This guy is a livewire. I cannot wait to see more of him.
