I mean, I love it, but it's clearly more powerful than every single other paladin subclass. The ability to conjure darkness you can see through, and allow your allies to see through it as well, is a massive advantage (literally)
Also because paladins smite basically every turn the channel divinity that causes fear with saving throws at disadvantage (doesn't even take concentration) is extremely powerful even considering the large fraction of monsters that are immune to fear
By all means. I do not force anyone to play anything haha. For darkness it is not that broken as it is advantage and disadvantage for 1 round only and the paladin himself can not attack at all that turn. Allies do not get advantage until 7th level aura unless they they themselves have someway to bypass the magic, where the 1 round advantage is not op at all. Most big bosses are immune to fear, if you are fighting a hoard of enemies it is only the first attack and if they choose to smite, than more than not they will be doing a lot of damage and most likely killing the minion with that hit regardless. Madness can be broken and not broken, you have to roll on the table the same way you would roll on the wild magic table and they are only affected if they chose to enter or start there turn so many ranged attackers would not be bothered. All in all I have play tested it a bit in a game or two and we found that but was very strong yes, but not to the extent that it makes it better than all other paladin classes.
Maddening darkness: several options here, but you need to make significant nerfs. One direction you could go would be to change "enemy" to "creature except you" so that your allies would potentially be affected by the Maddening Darkness. Moving away slightly before using it would still allow you to not affect them, but they can't just get a "free round" in combat anymore where enemies can hardly do anything and they attack with advantage. If they want those advantages, they could risk the WIS save (which seems manageable since they'd also always benefit from your Lv6 Paladin Aura for that save). You could consider allowing advantage on the WIS save to your allies from the level 7 feature. A different option would be (and sorry for suggesting this again) to remove the "Maddening" part of the Aura – but yeah, this is still overpowered come level 7 due to the changes you made to the Aura.
