The second episode of Demon Slayer’s Mugen Train Arc kicks things right into the events of the film, as Tanjiro and the others meet the Kyojuro Rengoku.
However, Rengoku suspects this demon may have been a diversion — a demon that can munch on 40 humans must be much stronger than this. Rengoku senses traces of another demon and as it turns out, the Mugen Train will be back in service the next night, so you bet Rengoku will be riding that thing in search of more demon-slaying action.
This episode serves as the linchpin that connects the Rehabilitation and Mugen Train arcs, and it’s priming us for the Mugen Train’s events by enamoring us with Rengoku. I mean, how can you not fall in love with the guy after this episode? He’s brave, fiery and pure of heart, but he’s also quirky in all the right places. And the scene that shows Kyojuro’s movements mimicking his father’s? That’s sure to place more emphasis on the relationship between them and how his father ends up (which was revealed in the film). We even get confirmation that Rengoku is well-liked among the Hashira in the quippy-outro that pulls the characters out of the manga’s page at the end of each episode.
This premiere has definitely already improved the Mugen Train Arc tenfold by providing the nexus that connects us with Rengoku, surely injecting more heady emotional gravitas into the events on the horizon.

Giving an opinion about whether a recap of Mugen Train is a good or bad thing remains difficult when we don’t know what scenes will be added and where within the arc they will be focused.
At this early stage in season 2’s broadcast, we are optimistic that re-adapting Mugen Train will provide some more context for the upcoming Entertainment District Arc in an entertaining manner.
Leaks on the Internet revealed today, the most anticipated Fall 2021 series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 will release on Japanese Tv in two cours. The first cour will constitute the Mugen Train Arc containing a total of 12 episodes.
Based on what leakers have said recently, it seems Season 2 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will be two cours with the first arc being Mugen Train. I’m not sure if this means the entire Mugen Train arc will be recapped or S2 will begin with leftover manga content.
The decision to air the anime series on Fuji Tv was already in place for a long time. But it never fully got a green light. From October 2020, Fuji Tv started airing the series as a “special show” on Saturdays at 9 pm after “Mugen Train’s” success. This hit an audience rate of 15% which is a low margin to stay among the five big stations. So, Fuji Tv is going to air the upcoming season of the high-profile series to increase its audience rating.
