Understand GeGeGe no Kitaro 2018 Episodes 1~5 in Three Minutes

In a small, secluded hut far from town lives a young ghost boy by the name of Gegege no Kitarou and his tiny talking eyeball of a father. Despite his eerie nature, Kitarou spends his days trying to help the human world co-exist in harmony with the spooks and youkai that would otherwise cause them harm. From helping to retrieve a demonic baseball bat from a young boy to scaring off a hostile monster who is stealing children’s souls, Kitarou and his father do their best to maintain the peace with the help – or possibly hindrance – of the rodent-like Nezumi Otoko and the rest of his creepy friends.

This is a spoiler free review. Bem was an anime that tried to do too much in too little time. If it had more episodes it could have been great, but sadly, the show only having 12 episodes seriously dragged it down. It’s in what I like to call a Charlotte situation. This show has way too many plotlines that were never finished or explained. They tried to make an overarching plot, but most of the episodes were just monster of the week, with little bits of plot sprinkled into each episode. It was honestly just incredibly rushed. Many of the things that seemed important early on were completely forgotten or glossed over. The team behind Bem was too ambitious and tried to fit way too many ideas in, and it really affected the quality of the series. I’m still questioning some of the events and why they happened. The show’s largest problem may just be it’s characters, and how we did not spend enough time on any of them. This made it very hard to get attached to them. A great example of this is Harazy, since I stll don’t know why I’m supposed to care about her, and nothing about her is ever really explained. Tons of character motivations are still in the dark, and only a few of them actually developed. Hell, some of the characters just disappeared off the planet and were never mentioned again, which left me feeling like the show was unfinished. Yeah, it really needed more episodes. The animation in the show is mediocre, there’s really nothing special in that department, the monster transformations always seemed lazy and since that’s a huge part of the show, it really brought it down. The sound could have it’s moments, the opening is very catchy, but I’m just a sucker for jazz, so there’s that. The voice actors (especially Bela’s) did a great job in my opinion, they conveyed the characters personalities very well, even if some of them barely even had personality, but good voicing acting can’t hold up the entire show. In the end, Bem was a show that had missed potential, and if it only had a few more cours it could have been something truly great. There’s potential for a season 2 for sure, but we’ll all just have to wait and see I guess.

I really enjoyed this anime. This anime has nostalgic felling in it’s bg score and animation.Anime try to maintain dark tone but it loses grip a bit. Slow pacing but characters developed episode by episode still characters did not make their motives clear. Episode 1-9 it’s on a fixed pattern but then story automatic contacts everything and met to the end. Most interesting thing in this anime is it’s bg score and also title track I enjoyed it very much. The problem with this anime is number of episodes. This anime should have more number of episodes so we can connect with minor characters also some characters seems important but less development specially with officer Sonia. Overall it’s worth trying if you’re thinking that "it can be interesting"
