Saban kicks off the 20th anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise with the first episode of
Here we are, finally, at the start of the 20th anniversary. It’s natural to assume a show might want to pay tribute to its predecessors within the context of the Power Rangers formula, but did
That said, yeah, still looking forward to the series. Putting it bluntly, I enjoyed everything up until Gosei summoned the Rangers and it became the visual Megaforce Book of Toys. While there wasn’t a lot of screen time for Troy or Emma, I genuinely enjoyed seeing Gia, Jake, and Noah whenever they had the camera to themselves. The three of them are driven by such endearing actors and I’m sure Jake’s already my favorite Ranger on the team. (or maybe Gia)
Another little tidbit I’m hoping gets explained is the division between the Ranger powers. Troy and Emma wield sky based powers, Gia and Jake are the earth powered Rangers, and Noah is the water user. Which is cool and all, but why? Why are the others in pairs and why is Noah alone? They went to the trouble of introducing this aspect and I’m expecting it gets expanded upon.
A lot of build up and hype has surrounded the premiere of this show ever since the cast appeared at Power Morphicon 3 last year. We’ve seen clips and short interviews with the cast, but the first episode has finally dropped. How did it fair?
Overall, I think this was a decent episode. I liked it a lot better than the previous season and has convinced me to stick around for the ride. There’s a bit of backstory that is hinted at about Troy going through a lot in his life, and seeing as he’s the newest student at the school, that should lead to some interesting episodes. And like everyone else, I’m curious to see how they explain the Legend War as well as the Gosei Tribes in this version. And with the rumors of past Power Ranger actors showing up from time to time, I can’t wait to see this show unfold throughout the year (or two).
