2-hour special features redrawn anime of East Blue arc, anime of chapter covers

The special is commemorating the manga’s 20th anniversary, and will also feature anime versions the original manga’s chapter cover stories, although the issue doesn’t state which one(s) will be animated. Additionally, the special will feature a special 20th anniversary commemoration version of the original opening theme song “We Are!”.

The episode will include new stories from the East Blue, from the time when Luffy started his adventure with Shanks and his meeting with Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji.

Takashi Otsuka is directing this special episode, and Tomohiro Nakayama is scriptwriter. The character design is done by Masayuki Sato. It has been revealed that some of the frontispieces of the manga will also be animated in the ending credits of the episode.
