[Sub Indo] Isekai Cheat Magician – 02
isekai cheat magician [Eng sub] ep 1
Nishimura Taichi is a typical, average high schooler, and Azuma Rin is a beautiful woman with the build of a model and excellent reflexes. The two live a normal high school life until one day they’re suddenly enveloped in a mysterious magic circle and transported to an unknown land. That world is full of terrifying monsters, beastmen, dwarves, elves, and many other races right out of fantasy. In order to survive in this new world Taichi and Rin decide to become adventurers, but when they take the aptitude test they discover they both possess cheat level magic…
Much like Kenja no Mago from last season, this one seems to be pretty standard isekai fare but seems also to have remembered to have a bit of fun. This week in Isekai Cheat Magician, Rin and Taichi learn a little bit about how to use their magic powers and over a number of weeks gain the basic skills they need to fight monsters. It helps they are both stupidly overpowered to start with so basic techniques are more than enough otherwise this sequence would seem way too fast.
“This show feels like a throwback to when the isekai genre didn’t suck” is, I’m informed, not a sufficient review. But damned if it doesn’t pretty much sum up my feelings about Isekai Cheat Magicians pretty well. The show is rough around the edges visually, complete with big hair and wonky eye-to-face ratios straight out of 2004, but the story is fresh air after season after seasons of noxious incel pandering and slavery apologism.
So, this season we were flooded with Isekai titles. That’s where someone from our reality is pulled to another world, usually a fantasy world, but it can vary. Well, Isekai Cheat Magician is one of those. It follows a couple of high school students who suddenly find themselves in a fantasy world with monsters and magic. The premise is as standard as it gets, the only real difference is that there are two of them. Will this be enough to separate it from the others? Well, we are about to find out. Also, there will be spoilers and opinions… lots of opinions…
[…] isn’t an anime I’ve watched but I enjoyed reading the review. Lynn reviews Isekai Cheat Magician and compares it to eating a box of crackers. I can’t say I disagree. Keiko is taking on a 30 […]
[…] In an attempt to exercise my creative muscles, I’ve introduced a new series of posts where I will take a series that I have previously reviewed and come up with an idea for a spinoff series. Generating ideas for stories is one of my favourite things to do and I often come up with full stories from the most random of things, so I decided to focus that energy into my blog and have a bit of fun at the same time. For my first Spinoff Saturday post, I have chosen Isekai Cheat Magician. […]
