During Rankin/Bass’s golden age of Christmas specials, an Easter special emerged about a bunny named Peter Cottontail, which shone a spotlight on all the other holidays as well.

I confess that I like these caption things, mostly the male to female gender transformations. So I decided to make my own for this Easter-themed picture. 😀 This was done as an Easter exchange for RyokoNeko on Red’s Den.

He is a pink bunny with a bow tie that speaks in a very gruff manner. Whenever he sees an object lying on the ground, no matter how large, he tries to lift it up and place an Easter egg underneath.

But what I somehow inexplicably skipped in my panic reading (I had a few days from package to starting writing the strip) was that Sally and a long tradition of biting off the ears of Hilary’s chocolate Easter bunny.

This was brought to my attention in 1998 when—shortly after my first Easter Sunday strip (sans ear-sliced bunny)—I received an email from a very irate reader saying that he had bet his wife $100 that Sally would bite the ears off Hil’s chocolate bunny…
