Because we have some people watching Death Note for the first time discussing the series with us in these threads, please put any references to future events in the series in spoiler tags.
I think this just highlights the difference between Rem and Ryuk's personalities. Misa asked Rem how she got an extra Death Note and Rem had no problem going into detail about it, especially since the situation involved Misa. Rem is pretty straight forward. Ryuk, on the other hand, is a lot less open and likes to mess around with Light. If Light were to ask the same thing, there's a very little chance that Ryuk would give him the answer.
Ok, not sure about Misa's sanity here, but I don't think Light is either. Definitely believable that such a person would exist and come forth in such a context though. Now basically all Light has to do is get Misa and L to meet each other; not something too difficult as he basically only need to get Misa on campus while L is there and with her masquerading as his girlfriend and this information even possibly reaching L without Light doing anything by his mother telling his father and him telling L, L wouldn't even be more suspicious of Light having a girlfriend. That said, I wonder if the name-misspelling in the episodes midcard might come in to play. Light took Misa's Death Note, so Misa would have to tell Light L's name, if it is one with a bizarre spelling it might break the note.
Other than that, not really a fan of how Misa got to know Light. That eye-thing not working on Death Note holders came out of pretty much nowhere.
So humans who have a Death Note can't see the lifespan of someone else who has a Death Note because, according to Rem, they only need to know the lifespans of people they are going to kill. But it seems like someone can kill another Death Note holder despite not knowing their lifespan. I guess this is a Shinigami rule that is passed down to humans even though the circumstances aren't the same.
So the Death Note doesn't affect anyone under 780 days (about 2 years). Good to know that a person can't kill infants.
The second rule for this episode says that if a victim's name is misspelled four times, the note is rendered useless. I'm wondering if it's just useless for that one name or if the Death Note can no longer be used after that.
I like the design of Misa's Death Note more than the design of Light's.
Light: Besides, he can’t see my shinigami unless he touches my death note. How does he plan to do that? Huh?
Rem: Humans with shinigami eyes only need to know the life span of their victims. And just as we can see the life span of others of our kind, humans who possess the death note can not see each other’s life span even with the eyes.
