There are a lot of tropes that go into romance anime, and because they are often so successful in creating the atmosphere and drama that most romance anime viewers demand, those tropes are abused to hell and back. One such well-beat trope is having the male and female lead live together. Maybe it is a forced marriage sort of thing, or a homeless sort of thing, or a sibling… sort of… thing. Well anyway, it is the perfect set up for as many romantic encounters as possible. Who wants to wait until two lovers meet up at school? No one.
Still, if you are into the concept of arrange marriage, as it is part of the Japanese culture, they have some anime series that deal with it.
This is probably one of the best done anime series on arranged marriages. It’s treated very much in a way that arranged marriage should be treated, as in two people meet and they get to know each other. They are children of differing kingdoms and do not necessarily like each other at first, but the series explores their growing relationship rather just being like, “you’re married now, lul.”
Black Butler, as you go further in the series, shows that as a wealthy young heir to the Phantomhive family, Ciel does indeed already have a marriage arranged. As this is a Japanese anime and set in Victorian England, of course it is to his cousin. As a 12 year old boy focused more on vengeance, he really isn’t so interested in his betrothed, but that’s fine because she is completely too interested in him.

Arranged marriages or fixed marriages may sound obsolete or old-fashion, but this still happens nowadays albeit very rare, but in anime, this has been a cliche that always delivers a hilarious and romantic story. This kind of setup usually leads to an interesting development that may either give the viewers a good dosage of drama and romance, while some simply bring total entertainment through humor and relatable antics.
What if they made this anime only to beat the marriage record in anime
