Reading Manhwa The Predatory Marriage Between the King and the Paladin at Manhwa Website. "Yes, I'll become a king. I'm going to take everything I want."

Broke college student Jiho is determined to win the grand cash prize on the TV show “The King of Home Cooking,” where culinary mastery alone isn’t enough to become popular with the audience voters. After a wild night of research, he concludes that faking a gay relationship with another contestant is the surest way to victory. The handsome and good-natured Woohyuk could be the perfect partner — but the instant he hears Jiho’s plan, Woohyuk turns into a complete jerk! The two somehow agree to team up, but will their rocky “ship” be enough to beat the other attention-hungry contestants?

Characters: I really like this story. I’ve read up to Ch 37 currently and I think it has some auspicious points. I really like the characters. They are given clear personalities that are reasonable yet not overdone. The main character is slightly airheaded, in an endearing way, but the author has given his character more complex than that. Throughout the chapters, we are slowly getting insight into his motivations, his relationship with his family, and whatnot. I especially like how he’s not a perfect person, which is allowing character growth. The main love interest is also a nice character. In the story, he is kinda stand-offish to most people except for the main character. While the author has given a little bit of backstory as of now as to why he acts that way, I don’t find it particularly yet. I have hope that his character will become more clear once more of his motivations/backstory is revealed, cuz as of now it’s kinda… oh he’s rich and, therefore, he’s spoiled and has no social skills. The secondary love interest is probs my favorite so far. We haven’t gotten to know him really well yet, but I find him refreshing. Unlike so many other BLs, this character (the producer) isn’t a complete douche and is a pretty likable guy. Art: The art is pretty good. I enjoy it but it’s nothing out of the ordinary. The main characters are drawn well and look good. The side characters aren’t really paid much attention to; however, they are drawn uniquely enough so that it’s easy to associate their character traits with their physical representation. If I’m being honest, I was hoping that the art of the food would look delicious (like some Food Wars type stuff), but it kinda fades into the background. There do be a cute cat tho. Story: In general, I like the story so far. The structure of the competition is clear and makes sense even though it hasn’t really been explored in deep. Like most BLs, most of the time is spent on the characters and their relationships and less so on the world-building. Personally, I’d prefer more world-building, but it’s fine, I get it.
